Winona Being Monitored

A Minnesota newspaper along with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency have

gone in together to pay for frac sand monitors. And it puts Winona as the first city in that state to monitor frac sand and diesel emissions along a truck route.

Two monitors have been installed on the roof of the YMCA and are calibrating. The equipment should be tracking data sometime this week. The data will be collected for a year and will be used as a baseline of how much frac sand and diesel emissions are in the air along one of the busiest truck routes in the city.

The Winona Daily News, in on the cost, says the monitors cost about $60 thousand.
