River Crash Death Update

Less than a week into the new year, three people have died in area accidents

involving cars that went into icy water. Both crashes reportedly involved drivers from Winona.  Ellie Ahmann died after her car went off Jackson Street and drove into Swift Creek in La Crosse, probably late on New Year’s Eve.  The cause of Ahmann’s death has been ruled as drowning, but toxicology tests are still being done. On Sunday, a car belonging to Christina Hauser of Winona was discovered in the Mississippi near Riverside Drive in Winona.  Hauser and a 30-year-old man were discovered dead inside the car when it was taken out of the water around noon yesterday.
