Coldest Weather In Almost 20 Years Headed To Lax By Sunday

The last time, they called it the ‘Arctic Outbreak’…

Around Groundhog Day of 1996, La Crosse had a record-setting cold spell with three straight nights of temps in the -30 range. The area’s coldest weather since that week is expected to arrive Sunday in La Crosse, and Weather Service forecaster Jeff Boyne expects bitterly cold wind chills, around -30 to -50.

Boyne says mild weather in the 20’s is likely before the cold air moves in. On Monday, the mercury might not get above -10.
