Officers Cleared, Still Investigated

Two death related police incidents have been investigated by the Sparta

Police Department and both officers involved have been cleared to go back to work. In October, an officer attempted to pull over a man for speeding. The man refused to stop and ended up colliding with another car driven by a Sparta man who died at the scene. In the other case, in officer, involved in two shootings in two years, killed a 21 year old man who would not stop charging at him with knives.

 

Police Chief, Mike Kass says both incidents were tragic. But………..

Both the state and Monroe County D.A.’s office are still looking at both cases.
