A significant World War Two anniversary happens in the new year…

Next June

will mark 70 years since the D-Day invasion of Europe, and the organizers of La Crosse’s Freedom Honor Flights are looking at ways to observe that landmark.  But Honor Flight president Bill Hoel says they won’t be flying World War Two veterans to the actual invasion site of Normandy.  That’s a little too ambitious, he says:

The plan is to make the usual one-day trips to Washington and back, two times a year.  Hoel tells us about 400 names are currently on the waiting list for La Crosse Honor Flights.
