Dresbach Bridge An Award Winner

A new Mississippi River bridge in the area is a long way from being finished, but it’s already winning awards.

The design of the Dresbach bridge project comes in at number 9 among the best bridges in America, according to Roads and Bridges magazine.  Minn DOT’s Kristin Kammueller says the aim of protecting fishing spots and wetlands near the bridge was a key factor in getting that award:

The magazine points out that the current bridge, nearly 50 years old, may be prone to fractures.  It also has shoulders that are not up to modern standards, but the new bridge will correct that problem.
