La Crosse Has State’s Top Counselor

Elementary into their winter break will have a special surprise this year.

The school’s longtime school counselor, Melani Fay, will learn she has been chosen by the Wisconsin School Counselor Association as the Counselor of the Year.

During her tenure in the School District of La Crosse, Fay has developed several guidance curricula that have been utilized and adopted by the School District of La Crosse and several other school districts in Wisconsin, including an anti-bullying curriculum called Giraffe Talk. She is internationally recognized in the think-tank of innovators in the field of
education.

The Northside Elementary and Coulee Montessori students will surprise Fay with the announcement during the all school sing-a-long that begins at 1:30 p.m. in the Roosevelt gymnasium.
