Campbell Sign Rule Fight a 2013 Top Story
One of our newsroom’s top stories for 2013 could lead to a constitutional legal challenge in 2014. The fight over the Town of Campbell’s pedestrian bridge sign ordinance is on our newsroom’s top ten list at number seven. Town board members say they enacted the ordinance out of safety concerns for drivers who might be distracted by signs overhead. But attorney Bernardo Cueto tells us the rule that prohibits signs of any kind on the pedestrian bridge is an attack against protestors who, earlier this year, called for the impeachment of the president
Cueto represents two men who have been ticketed under the ordinance. He says to expect a lawsuit against the town early in the year.
