La Crosse Police Officer Accidentally Shot

A La Crosse police officer is recovering from a leg wound after an accidental shooting.  Cops say the officer was taken to the hospital after a gun accidentally discharged during firearms training in the department’s basement shooting range at about 8:30 this morning.  Police say they won’t identify the officer or the exact nature of the wound and have not specified what sort of firearm was involved.  The officer could be released from the hospital yet today.  There will be an internal investigation.
