Down Shipping Year Renews Call for River Improvements

Early this week, we expect numbers from the Army Corps of Engineers on shipping numbers for the upper Mississippi for the just-finished season.  At Brennan Marine in La Crosse, Kent Pehler says he’s not sure by how much, but their business was definitely slower this year

Pehler says, with the constant environmental changes, infrastructure shortcomings at the river’s locks and dams become that much more challenging for the inland shipping industry.
