Permit Hearing Today in Arcadia for Frac Sand Facility

Just because Trempealeau county has a frac sand mining moratorium in place, that hasn’t ended frac sand activity.  An Iowa mining company is going ahead with its plans for a facility near Arcadia.  Today, the DNR holds a public hearing on granting the company permits to reroute trout streams and fill in wetlands to make way for the mine’s sand loading facility.  The DNR’s Dave Paricek says those types of impacts aren’t unusual

Paricek says, despite efforts to mitigate impacts of mining facilities, the cumulative numbers of mines in Trempealeau county are bound to have some sort of environmental effect.
