Uncertainty Over New Rental Rules

While the city of La Crosse is preparing to tweak its rental registration and inspection processes, a bill heading to the governor’s desk may mean those rules won’t apply at all.  The state senate this week has given final legislative approval to a bill that could mostly end registration and inspection in the city for rentals.  La Crosse mayor Tim Kabat says he doesn’t cling to inspections as a revenue source

The new rental rules would also strengthen landlords’ abilities to kick out tenants, throw out their property and tow their cars.
