New Ideas Proposed For Courthouse Parking Lot

The possible need for new office space for La Crosse County government has forced the county to consider building plans for the courthouse parking lot.

On Thursday, a county committee heard a report about potential options for the block known as ‘Lot C.’ Community development specialist Brian Fukuda admits that the county is reluctant to give away much parking space.  The report says Lot C could be a good spot for a hotel or museum…or a joint business venture between local government and private business.  A courthouse stood on that lot for 60 years, until the building was torn down in the 1960’s to make way for a Montgomery Ward store.
