Taking A Stand On Bullying In La Crosse

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, a time to stomp out bullying in schools, parks, online and at home. A 2008-2009 school crime report indicated 28 percent of students in grades 6-12 nationwide experienced bullying. Troy Harcey with the La Crosse School District says he has seen the numbers grow over time.

Harcey says one district goal is delivering easy tools for families to learn how best to handle, or even prevent incidents of bullying in their communities which resonates strongly with both moms and dads. Harcey says more than 160 thousand students are missing school each day because they’re afraid of getting picked on, taunted, beaten up.
