DNR Loses Control of Prescribed Burn

When you’re playing with fire, sometimes you–and hundreds of acres of grassland–can get burned.  The Wisconsin DNR has issued a mea culpa for allowing a prescribed burn to get a bit out of hand near Grantsburg.  The Crex Meadows Wildlife Area is a little darker after the fire got out of control yesterday.  the DNR planned on a prescribed burn of 505 acres.  And then it spread.  And spread.  600 extra acres of land got scorched by the fire.  The DNR says fire crews finally got things under control at about seven last night.  They say no one was hurt in the fire and there was no property damage.
