What Parade? Keg Tapping Goes On Without One

Okay, so there was no opening day parade for La Crosse’s Oktoberfest this year…

Festival workers still found a way to deliver the Golden Keg to the festgrounds in time for the start of the nine-day event…and the ceremonial pouring of beer, to the chants of ‘Tap that keg.’  Dozens of people gathered to watch the ritual.  Long lines formed outside the festground gate before the keg ceremony…one line for buying fest buttons, and another to get wristbands for the beer garden.  Tonight’s highlight on the Oktoberfest schedule is the Festmaster’s Ball at the La Crosse Center.
