Farnam St. Shooting Suspect Caught In Florida

Another fugitive from Wisconsin has been caught in Florida…this time, a La Crosse man suspected in a local shooting incident last month.

Almondo Baker was arrested in Lee County, Florida at about 4 o’clock this morning, after allegedly giving police there a false name. Baker is accused of shooting three people in the legs and abdomen at his home on Farnam Street in La Crosse over Labor Day weekend. Bond in Florida has been set at five thousand dollars, and he could be tried there next month on a fraud charge.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
