A chain reaction crash involving two National Guard trucks Thursday sent one person to the hospital. It happened just after 4pm in the Monroe County Town of Greenfield. 31 year old Jeremiah Tiede (TIDE) of Beaver Dam and 20 year old Steve Laba of Kenosha were in a military convoy on Highway 21. The lead vehicle in the convoy had stopped to wait for a car that was in front of it and drivers behind him all braked hard.

Laba tried to avoid hitting Tiede’s truck but was unable to do so and ran into the back end. A passenger in Laba’s vehicle was injured as a result of the crash. 23 year old Brian Haas of Racine had to be extricated from the truck and was transported by Med Link Air to Gunderson Lutheran Hospital La Crosse with serious but non-life threating injuries.

All involved were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
