2 Hurt In Monroe County Crash

2 people were hurt in a rollover accident in Monroe County last night. Around

8:45, a car driven by 31 year old Chris Huwald was driving ½ mile west of the Main Gate of Fort McCoy in the township of Lafayette when he crossed the center line and into a ditch. The car struck a concrete culvert and ended up in a creek bed. Both people in the car were able to get out of the vehicle and crawled up to the road and flagged down help.

 

A military convoy stopped and helped at the scene until EMS and law enforcement arrived. Huwald was taken to Mayo Health System Sparta Campus with head injuries. A female passenger, 33 year old Amy Johnson also of Sparta was transported to Mayo Health System Sparta Campus with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.
