Lewiston Man Happy With New Kidney

ONE MONTH AGO, A LEWISTON, MINNESOTA MAN WAS GETTING READY TO RECEIVE A KIDNEY FROM A WOMAN HE MET OVER THE INTERNET…

TOM WIRT GOT HIS KIDNEY TRANSPLANT IN MID-FEBRUARY, AND HE TELLS US HE’S FEELING ‘MUCH BETTER’ SINCE THE OPERATION. WIRT AND HIS WIFE BETTY ARE STAYING AT A RESIDENCE FOR MAYO PATIENTS IN ROCHESTER, AS LONG AS HE NEEDS TO DO FREQUENT TESTS AT THE CLINIC.  AND THE DOCTORS ADVISE TOM TO GET EXERCISE, KEEP HIS WEIGHT DOWN, AND AVOID POTASSIUM-RICH FOODS LIKE MILK AND BANANAS WHICH COULD UPSET HIS KIDNEY FUNCTION.

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
