Shilling Says ‘Yes’ to Fed Money for Rail

La Crosse’s rep on a powerful legislative committee has agreed to the big rail money-grab.

 

Democrat Jennifer Shilling is on the state’s joint finance committee. The committee has approved receiving 822 million dollars from the feds for high speed rail funding in the state. Shilling says the money’s essential to invest in the future of rail in the state. The vast majority of the money will go to fund the Milwaukee to Madison corridor. Less than a tenth of one percent of the total cash will go towards studying the future of high speed rail that might go through La Crosse someday.
