The City of Onalaska has updated contingency procedures for elections in case of a terrorist attack or natural disaster on election day.

City Clerk Carrie Burmaster said the recent concern over election security forced the review.

"We've just been under a lot of scrutiny with elections," she said. "We've been encouraged from the Wisconsin Elections Commission to make sure we have our plans in place, to have them updated. We are fortunate enough because we actually had a plan and didn't have to do a lot of work on it, where some places didn't have that in place."

The policy covers things like electrical outages, flooding concerns and security of ballots in case there has to be a venue change.
