Climate, jobs and justice. Those are three priorities of a group leading rallies around the world Saturday.

A "Rise for Climate" took place Saturday afternoon in La Crosse, near the Hoeschler fountain at Riverside Park.

Speakers for the local event included sustainability specialists, a UW-L professor and members of the Sierra Club.

The promoters of the rallies hope to persuade government at many levels to take action protecting the environment.

The project also included a "paddle and promenade" event early Saturday morning at Lake Park in Winona.
