Record-setting heat this Memorial Day weekend in La Crosse, Rochester

Obviously it was a hot Memorial Day weekend.

Sunday, La Crosse hit 98 degrees, which broke one really old record and, well, didn't come close to breaking another. But second place isn't bad ... unless you hate the heat.

Sunday's temperature was two degrees warmer than, what is now the second hottest May 27 in La Crosse, which came back in 1874. Remember that Wednesday? (Yes, it was Wednesday back on May 27, 1874. Did you turn on the a/c?).

Sunday's temp also tied for second-hottest day in May dating back to the record-holding 107-degree day back on May 31, 1934.

Sunday's 98 degrees is now tied for the second hottest, along with May 22, 1925, and May 6, 1934.

In Rochester, Monday's 95 degrees marked the fourth consecutive day a record-high temperature was set. Sunday's high tied a record set in 2006.

It was also the longest streak of record-setting days since March of 2012, when there were record highs tied or broken for seven days in a row.
