Work on 4th Street continues in La Crosse, traffic disruptions expected Featured

Written by

It's likely that the snarl of traffic will continue in downtown La Crosse for the next couple weeks.

Crews are repairing the worn, rumble strip of the 4th-La Crosse street intersection by City Hall and traffic has often slowed down to a crawl at time with lane closures.

The project is part of spot repairs getting done along La Crosse Street to tackle the worst of what continues to be a plague for drivers in the city.

While technically the Wisconsin DOT's responsibility — because La Crosse Street is a state highway — the city is doing the repairs without expectation of reimbursement.

Northbound traffic at La Crosse Street is down to one lane and the La Crosse Street intersection at 3rd and 4th has been shut down to east-west traffic.

The city expects the work to be complete by Memorial Day.
